We are social creatures by nature. We all live our social relationships in our own way.
Some of us enjoy the company of others.
Some of us prefer more time alone.
Some of us surround ourselves with many friends and family.
Some of us prefer a small inner circle.
Some of us want others to like us.
Some of us are not concerned with other’s thoughts.
Unfortunately, we cannot control another’s actions. We cannot make other’s like us. We cannot please everyone.
Well it goes both ways… we cannot be controlled by another. We don’t necessarily like everyone AND not everyone pleases us.
Activity: Journal about your relationship with others in your life.
- Create a list of all the roles you currently have. (Some examples may be: daughter, sister, friend, co-worker)
- Take it further and be descriptive (My role as a co-worker may include: group organizer, listener, teacher, catering, copy editor, mediator between co-workers.. you can see the variation in the roles)
- Circle the ones you enjoy.
- X out the ones that are less useful to you.
This is simply an awareness building activity. It’s important to consider how you would like to further explore the why you enjoy or don’t enjoy certain aspects of the roles you play as well as how much value you have placed on those roles. You may wish to continue to journal about these issues.

Share your positive intention or mantra for the day.
Remember to think about what your plans are for the day and make it relevant.

Most important is that it has meaning and it sets a positive tone for your day.

- Did you HEAR something pleasant?
- Did you FEEL in your emotions or body that just felt right?
- Did you SMELL something that lifted your spirits?
- Did you TASTE something amazing?
