Grief is… Connection.
Simply… Grief is the expression of loss. In order to experience loss, a CONNECTION has to have been previously established.
That connection can be:
intimate or from afar,
a person, place or thing,
real or imagined, like a wish or a dream.
Connection has intensity – love or hurt. Connection is NOT indifferent.
Connection can be within family, community or within the world. So it makes sense when grief is present with the loss of a Loved One, a public figure, a home, a job, marriage, when life changes (birth, empty nesting, move, health change), when there is a tragedy or change in the greater community.
Reflect or Journal: How are you connected to your loss, your grief?
