This is your fourth Grief Self Assessment. There are are only correct answers for your personal experience of grief.
By now you know, grief touches many aspects of life and wellbeing. The Self Assessment is a tool for you check in with yourself to see how you are doing. The score is SIMPLY a REFERENCE POINT. There are a few indicators that will direct you to reach out to a medical professional you will see as you go through the questions.
Many people are looking to “feel better.” These questions can help you begin to identify a “doing better.” At the end of the day, only YOU can answer what that will look like for YOU.
Grief is something unique to you. And it’s an interesting growth. There are times we seem to feel numb and others where experiences seem intense… Within the first 4 months, you will have times that grief will feel brand new, as if you are “going backwards.” This is simply not possible, though you may be experiencing something called secondary losses. Secondary losses occur when you realize a new way in which your loss impacts your life. Is this happening for you? Keep in mind that we experience life moment to moment. We grow step by step.
Backwards or forwards doesn’t matter as much as this moment right now.
Journal or Reflect: This is a good time to look back at your first Grief Self Assessment to see what is the difference. Write about your observations.
***This may be a time to reach out to a grief counselor if you feel you would benefit.
