Season’s come and go… and the grief is still present in your life.
Does it seem that time is standing still for you and the world keeps going on around you? As you start to come out of the fog, it becomes more apparent the unique connection you have with your Loved One. Your life was touched in a different way than others and you are beginning to adjust to a new way of living. It may be that your life has stood still in the past few months and you are just realizing just how many ways your Loved One helped you.
It may be a surprise that seasons are changing too. That becomes a new set of emotional buttons when we recognize new ways we miss our Loved Ones within this new season of the year. So, we’ve got a little bit of work to do today… We are going to talk more about your relationship with each season and bring to light different aspects of each season that may warm your heart or deepen your grief.
If we familiarize ourselves with the potential for the tough parts, we actually reduce their sting when they come about… deflate the grief burst, if you will. This is going to help you in the seasons to come.
As your friend in grief, I’d like to help you reduce the pain of those surprises that may arise. I certainly CANNOT predict how you will feel when you first experience those times of year. I CAN help you reduce those grief sneak attacks.

TOOL YOU CAN USE BONUS:
I’ve included a handout for an activity called SEE, HEAR, FEEL 5-4-3-2-1. I learned this at a seminar I attended years ago. This is a great grounding exercise to help you stay focused on the present, reduce anxiety or to regain composure, not just for parenting – for anyone and anytime.
If you want to see it in action, I’ve included a video of my kids and me at the dog park describing the activity (previously recorded for a parenting support series).
Print out the handout and give it a try. Handout: See hear feel 5 4 3 2 1
