This is your eleventh Grief Self Assessment. There are are only correct answers for your personal experience of grief.
Grief is a part of your life. The Self Assessment is a tool for you check in with yourself to see how you are doing. The score is SIMPLY a REFERENCE POINT. There are a few indicators that will direct you to reach out to a medical professional you will see as you go through the questions.
The Self Assessment tells you how you are doing with grief as a part of your life. At the end of the day, only YOU can answer what that will look like for YOU.
You have learned that Grief presents itself in a variety of ways. Pay attention to your body symptoms of grief. Sometimes, the body is the first indicator that grief is moving to the forefront of your life and focus. The body tells you how you are doing if you listen. Do you have headaches? Are you exhausted? Are you sleeping or unable to fall asleep? Are your muscles or joints sore? Are you catching every cold or flu in your area? These are just some indicators of grief is in need of some exploration.
Now, here’s the disclaimer… if you have a racing heart and have a history of heart issues… it could be anxiety or grief… or it’s time to visit your doctor. You need to take steps to take care of yourself. I encourage you, if you haven’t visited your primary care physician in a while, go ahead and schedule a physical. It will give you piece of mind regarding your health and get back on track with your self care.
Journal or Reflect: Look at Question 11. Explore how you experience grief in your body by referencing the 2nd & 7th Self Assessments with today’s Assessment. Write about your observations and what may have contributed to grief presence or absence in your body during that time.
***If everyday life continues to be a struggle with grief, it’s time to reach out to a grief counselor to help process and be a support.
