It is common that we want to hold onto the “good” memories and forget other unpleasant memories. There are benefits to exploring the entirety of your relationship in order to best understand ALL your grief experiences. I know it’s a bit uncomfortable… just go there with me for a minute.
Now, you don’t have to stay in this for an extended amount of time.
I encourage you to stay long enough to better understand your grief.
Sometimes we cannot put our finger on where the hurt lies. Perhaps, it’s an aspect that’s being held in the valley of your Loved One’s being or within the relationship.
Simply taking a look at your Loved One as a whole person will allow you to grieve completely or bring to light past losses you experienced together. This view is truly honoring your Loved One for all their parts.
Today’s activity explores both aspects:
the things that made your Loved One great AND those tough parts or times.
Watch the video and print the handout.
Handout: 52-34 Pedestals and Valleys
Take a few minutes to reflect or journal:
What was a benefit for you to remember your Loved One as a complete person?
